ANUARY 29 1970 TERRACE BA for her approach to the subject, and for bringing the matter to the attention of the congregation. Discussion took place. Some thought it was time some concessions were made to the Youth of the Church. Others felt they could go along with Mrs. Anderson's remarks, but one person objected to her phrase "under my terms". Mrs. Anderson explained she simply meant she was not interested with the work of the Church, as it stands today. It was sug- gested she come and help, as the youth of the Church can do more from within than from without. Chairman Vanderkam asked if anyone had any questions about his report. One item was questioned and the secretary instructed to change the item to read "The Pastoral Relations Committee made no re- commendations to the Church Board, but simply stated their findings had been conveyed to Reverend Husser, and-as they considered them to be of a confidential nature, this was the extend of their report." Discussion arose over the fact that there had been no auditor's report for the past three years, it was felt that this was a must - two auditors should be appointed at the annual meeting, as per the constitution. During the discussion of the proposed budget, Rev- erend Husser was asked to retire for the first part of these discussions. The Board proposes to increase the Minister's gross salary by 360.00 for the year, to fall in line with the increase in the cost of living. Discussion followed regarding the Minister's Pen- sion Fund. Mr. Vanderkam explained that the Church pays 8% and the minister pays 5%. This is set up by the United Church of Canada, which we must follow, as we have a United Church minister . The increase was approved. Presbytery assessment was questioned and Mr. Husser replied, stating that it covers a number of things, such as eight cents a mile for the minister and representative to attend four Presbytery meetings a year; part of Mrs. Chalmers salary, Mrs. Chalmers being the Social worker in Thunder Bay supported by the Church, camp at Loon Lake. The congregation is assessed according to the number of active families in the congregation - 168. Mr. Husser felt it was very important to send a representative to these meet- ings. The question arose as to whether Mrs. Marg Simmer, part time organist, and a most willing person, ever received an honorarium. This had been done in pre- vious years, and the 1969 honorarium had not yet been sent. This will be brought up at the first board meeting. The 1970 preliminary budget was approved. In the absence of Mr. J. Brooks, Clerk of Session, Reverend explained that there had been a written ob- jection regarding dancing in the Church basement at any time. cont'd page 7
