THE NORTH: SHORE HOCKEY LEAGUE public take the value of this national ~~ geme of .ours.for granted, and fail to realize the many»benefits our youth get through playing this vigerous, essentially- canadian game???: Minor Hockey in Canada is the 'grass . ots! of all hockey, and for that 'vason the C.A.H.A., its branches and 'ffiliates, invite you to join with us in (cont'd, next column) ke) NeOehebe Cont'd, re 1,8 3 , emphasizing its great importance to sur country and to our youth through the observance of YOUNG CANADA HUCKEY WEEK ~' February 4 to 11 - in every city, town and hamlet in Canada, Briefly the purpose of YOUNG CANADA HOCKEY WEEK is to focus public attention on the physical, character--building and other benefits of hockey for our youth, and to still further encourage the promotion of minor hockey in every comminity in Canada where the game can be played, In addition the Week should serve to:- (a) point out the ability of hockey as a game to teach sur youth true sports- manship, to develop their competitive Spirit, to teach them how to 'give and take', to co-operate with others, play with others, work with others, to respest those in authority such as referees, team officials, etc, pay tribute to the hundreds of boys who have found inspiration in hockey, and who have used it and its lessons to develop physically and in ae character to become good and respected citizens, pay tribute to the thousands of men across Canada who are in direct contact with our young players at tne bottom cf the hockey pyramid in the important roles of soaches, managers, referees. é and league officials, To testify to the debt of gratitude that Canadian youth and all Canada owes to these men and the service clubs and other _ Organizations who sponsor hockey for Canadian boys, (d) encourage parents to take an interest i in their sons! participation in Canada's National Game, (b) HOCKEY ~ CANADA'S NATIONAL SPORT = HELPING BOYS BECOME BETTER MEN The people of Terrace Bay and particularly the parents and families of youngsters playing hoekey in the minor ranks will all be extended an opportunity "to support, the first national YOUNG CANADA HOCKEY WEEK, from February 4 to February ll, here in Terrace Bay. To help along ' the "hockey stars of to-morrow", it costs your local Hotkey Association a sum of money. There is more indebtedness than money can buy owing the Minor League Chairman, the managers, the coaches, ths referees and all others giving their time freely to teach the national sport of hockey to the youngsters.
