- Description
- The finished product and the power at the Hayes Lake Dam on the Aguasabon River in, Terrace Bay, Ontario. The action for the construction of a power source, was taken in, conjunction with Ontario Hydro water diversion, to redirect the northward flowing Long Lake south, through the Aguasabon River system to Lake Superior. Work on the south regulating dam and the long sluice at the south end of Long Lake was also completed in 1939. The original intent was to increase the local and Niagara River hydroelectric power production potential and to create an inner basin transportation route to deliver pulp logs to a potential pulp mill on Lake Superior. Further, a suitable natural harbour for the loading and unloading of lake freighters and rail transportation were also available in, Terrace Bay.
