PAGE 12 TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT During the week of February 7th to 13th, the Terrace Bay Police were called upon to investigate thirty occurrences. On February 7th, a local resident was charged with speeding under the Highway Traffic Act. One report of theft was re- ceived and it was learned that a Mobile Western Trailer had been broken into and two electric welders were stolen. This matter is under police investigation. Also on February 7th, officers were called upon to investigate a motor vehicle col- lision. A vehicle driven by Peter Commisso was westbound on Highway 17 in the vicinity of Hudson Drive. The second vehicle, was driven by Pasi Kinnunen was attempting a right hand turn from Hudson drive and was struck by the Commisso vehicle. Damage has been estimated at $1,900.00 and a charge of failing to yeild has been laid. On February 8th, a call was received from the Schreiber OPP detachment that a stolen Kenworth truck had been observed on Highway 17 between Marathon and Terrace Bay. Constable London observed this truck going through Terrace Bay and took up in- stant pursuit. This vehicle was pursued into Schreiber where it was stopped by Constable London and Provincial Constable Bitorff. As a result, two men were charged with Theft and the truck valued at approximately $50,000.00 was recovered. Also on February 8th, three charges under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act were laid and one motorist was charged with driving while disqualified. On February 10th, police were called to attend a disturbance at the Red Dog Inn and while investigating this incident, one impaired driver was charged. A report of wilful damage was reported when it was learned that a vehicle owned by Commonwealth Construction had it's tire slashed. The value of the tire is approximately $50.00. On February 12th, police attended a single motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of Highway 17 and Simcoe Plaza. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at Si, 500.00 and the driver was charged with impaired driving. Later in the day another driver was also charged with impaired driving and driving with over .08 mgs. of alcohol in his blood. Constable Tack attended at the Cormier residence when it was learned of the sudden passing of Simon Cormier. Police are also investigating the theft of a red Scott canoe, stolen from the Apartment building on Kenogami Road. During the week, police also attended two fires in the town-- site.
