PAGE 10 TERRACE BAY NEWS AUGUST 5, 1976 4 AMENDMENT TO THE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC ACT If you ride a motorcycle that was manufac- tured after January lst, 1970, the following amendments recently made in the Highway Traf- fic Act will effect you. All motor vehicles are required when on a highway to display two white or amber lighted lamps on the front and a red lighted lamp on the rear of the vehicle, from one half hour after sunset to one half hour before sunrise and at any other time when, due to insuffic- ient light or unfavourable atmospheric condi-- tions persons or vehicles cannot be seen clear -ly at a distance of 500 feet or less. Motor- cycles must carry two lighted lamps, one white on the front and one red on the rear and if your bike was manufactured after the above date those lights must be on at all times when operated on the highways. Bikes made prior to January 1970 are only required to have lights on when driving at night or in insufficient light due to weather. These new amendments were made for increased highway safety. INVESTIGATION: The Schreiber Detachment is investigating damage toc camps on Lakeshore Road caused by unknown person(s) shooting out windows with rifles and shotguns. The assistance of the public is required and any information receiv- ed will be treated with the strictest of con- fidence. ~ BIRCH: Funeral service for the late George Birch, age 71, of Schreiber, Ontario was held on Saturday, July 24, 1976 'at 3 p.m. from St. Johns Anglican Church with Rev. R.J.S. Inshaw officiating. Interment in Schreiber cemetery. THIRTY YEARS AGO: i RETURNED MEN HONOURED ' On August 4, 1946 the Township of Schreiber! held a Memorial Service in the Town Hall for Schreiber men lost in World War Two and an official welcome and presentation of individual plagues to all Returned Men. George A. Smith was the Reeve, then and the councillors were F.W. Hiller, J. Phillips, G.H. Birch, and J. McCouan. W.A. Spicer was Town Clerk and Mrs. J.D. Bryson was pianist for the occasion. The Rev. Owen Barrow of St. John's Anglican | 'Church read passages from the Scripture, and Major, the Rev. E.J. Weaver, M.B.E. gave an address. The closing prayer was offered by | | the Rev. A.F. Lavender. There were 132 plaques to be presented. : The honoured men who did not return were: ; Chief Petty Officer Sidney R. Priske, Corporal Lesley C. Gerow, Private Richard Law, Pricate Jimmy Richardson, Flight Sergeant Ivan Char- bonneau, Flight Officer Dennis A. Davey, Pilot: Officer Cornelius J.
