It is a difficult decision at any time of year and before you are reduced to the eeney-miney-moe system, Consumers' Association of Canada would like to offer a few toy-buying tips for your guidance Buy with the individual child in mind. When buying a plaything, first try to find out the stage, the interest and the capabilities of your young consumer. Learn his needs by watching the child at play. Note his stage of development. For in- stance, a simple wooden construction set with large pieces might be chosen for a well coordinated child of four to encourage creative building althou- gh the same set might be equally suitable for a poorly coordinated child of seven to improve his manual dexterity, muscle control and perseverance without causing frustration.
