Volit2 No. 32 Serving the District August 13, 1969 RED ROCK PLACES FIRST IN SWIM MEET 50TH ANNIVERSARY MARKED Throngs of relatives and friends filled the Moose Hall on Saturday evening, August 2nd to honour Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Cavanaugh on the occasion of their 50th Wedding anniversary . Ed Cavanaugh, as he is popularly known, married the former Norma Devine in 1919 in the Pro- Cathedral of the Assumption, in North Bay. Mr. Cavanaugh was with the Postal Department for 48 years, and was Terrace Bay's first Post Master, from 1946 till he retired in 1962. A luncheon for the immediate family was held in the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel, preceded by Mass in St. Martin of Tours Church, where the Cavanaughs renewed their vows. Ason, Paul Cavanaugh, was Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Keith Penner, M.P. brought greetings and Jack Stokes, M.P.P. presented a plaque continued Bea ee The fine weather of Saturday afternoon brought out a good crowd of spectators to cheer their swim- mers. Entries were from Red Rock, Cameron Falls, Manitouwadge, Marathon and Terrace Bay. The team standings were as follows: - Ist - Red Rock - 369 points; 2nd - Terrace Bay - 308 points; 3rd - Marathon - 235 points; 4th - Manitouwadge - 100 points; 5th Cameron Falls - 23 points. The individual awards were as follows:- Girl's (10 yrs. and under) - Mabel Humphrey , Red Rock; Girls (12 yrs. and under) - Heather McGlashen, Marathon; Girls (14 yrs. and under) - Kit Hall, Red Rock; Girls (16 yrs. and under) - Wency McMillan, Terrace Bay; Girls Open - Jeanette Labbe, Red Rock.
