Page. 12 ROSSPORT NEWS Lakehead visitors this past week were Mr. & Mrs. E. Legault, Mrs. P. Sully, Mrs. J. Paulmert, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hubelit, Alfred Ray, Patrick Auger, Mr. & Mrs. J. Spillette and T. Marchette. Mrs. P. Thiebault, Lawrence Mushqush, Mr. & Mrs. William Greer motored to Capreol for the weekend with-relatives and friends. Mrs. D. Martin has returned from Terrace Bay hospital . Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Goodman of Espanola called on Mrs. Todesco enroute to holiday with relatives in Winnipeg. The Five Hundred Card Club started their series of games Wednesday evening when Mrs. Hattie Yandon was hostess. Winners were Mrs. E. Rouble, Mrs. A. Testori and Mrs. J. Yandon. Mrs. Yandon served luncheon. There will be a benefit Penny Auction in the Community Hall Sunday, November |2 for Shirley Bouchard who has had an operation in Toronto. ATHLETIC AWARDS PROGRAMME In the spring of 1967 students of Terrace Bay Public School participated in an Athletic Awards Programme being exercised across Canada. This was a nationwide Centennial project for both high schools and elementary schools. Each child was given the opportunity to partici- pate in the public school. To qualify for an award the child had to enter three compulsory events: 1 minute speed sit-ups, 300 yard run, standing broad jump, and one of three optional events: skating, swimming, cross country run. If the child failed to enter three compulsory events and one optional event, he received no award. However, if he at least entered the re- quired events, he received a Red Participation Crest. Other awards ranged from a Bronze Crest to a Silver Crest with the highest award being a Gold Crest. Students receiving the Gold Crest in the Public School were: David Pinkerton, Susan Pluta, Ross Stojko, Louise Brooks, Wendy Evans-Smith, Sam Harris, Jim Shivas, Jacqueline Turner, Catherine West, Marilyn Benko, Andrew Brend, Daniel Hales Wendy McMillan, Clarence Yates, Branda Chap- man , Candice Cotton, Richard Hamilton, Donald aera Jack Ojavee, Raymond Kurylo, Greg.
