Fines on overdue books will go up on October 1 to: ADULT -- .03c per day to a maximum of $2.00 per book JUVENILE -- .02c per day to a maximum of $1.00 per book We appeal to those who have overdue books at home to return them as soon as possible. Owing to the high cost of books and our limited budget, it is necessary to charge replace- ment cost to those who lose or damage books beyond repair. We find that those who remember the Library as it was when it first opened are agreeably surprised to see our extended premises holding more than 7,000 books as well as periodicals, etc. catering to a wide variety of tastes. Why don't you pay us a visit and see for yourself what your library has to offer you. I am sorry about registration delay for the Day Camp at St. Mary's Anglican Church hall, but, due to unforseen printing problems with the paper, we couldn't keep our promised date. I'm glad to say response was very good and we had to turn some away. Many thanks to all Wednesday, August 25, 1976 Page 5 Day Care the parents who offered their assistance. On Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 1:30 p.m. there were five short films, which were provided by Russell Public Library. We were very fortunate to have Claude Labreche, the famous Frence-Canadian folk singer and story teller to entertain us on Aug. 11 at St. Mary's Church Hall. This also was sponsored by our Library. We want to thank our Library Staff who worked so hard to make arrangements for these events. Miss Michele LaFlamme Adresses Russell Village W.1. The regular meeting of the Russell Village W.I. was held at the home of Mrs. Andre Cousineau. The vice-president Mrs. Richard Hamelin opened the meeting. '"'Through work, comes Friendship' was_ the motto. All members agreed to enter the Ottawa Exhibition and the Russell Fair. The guest speaker Michele LaFlamme was introduced by Unita Cousineau. Through the department of external affairs she taught English in Algeria for two years. Their language is Arabic and French. She taught children 10 to 14 years of age. Miss LaFlamme showed some of the clothes people are wearing. Women are never seen on the streets or never do their shopping, this is all done by men. She lived in some kind of motel. During her stay in Algeria she made a lot of friends. Before her departure she was presented with all kinds of jewelry. A low attendance put a damper on this very interest- ing meeting. Mrs. Steele reported a few things about the convention in Prince Edward Island. Mrs. Robert Campbell gave the motto "Through work, comes Friend- ship". The hostess of September 8 meeting will be Mrs. Walter Kinkaid in the United Church Hall. UNITED CHURCH Minister: Rev. L. S.
