- Notes
- The Thessalon House was the town's first hotel on the corner of Main and Algoma Streets, built circa 1882. It was built for the Dyment Lumber Company.
The hotel had two barns and a large shed to accommodate the horses of visitors. The dining room offered fine service, the tables being laid with white linens, and the waiters were dressed in white jackets and bow ties.
The business was purchased by Hugh Jackson in 1885, who later sold it to Michael P. McGuire and Ouellette in 1908. The hotel was later owned by Tom White who operated it as a boarding house until it was torn down. - Date of Original
