THE STOW OF OASTLER FARM by Thomas and Evzlyn Graham INTRODUCTION On Monday, April 13, 1981, the Mary-Martha unit of Chalmers United Church, Guelph, Ontario, met at the home of Tom and Evelyn Graham to listen to an address by Evelyn on 'The Story of Oastler Farm'. This prompted both to previously condense the information they had on hand and this resulted in The Paper which follows. There are a few weak points. It is trusted that some who read this article will come forward with the following needed information. 1. As neither Evelyn nor Tom have been in Scotland they did their best under these circumstances in the pinning down of Scotch place names. It is their hope to soon meet with their cousin John Oastler and have him strengthen this part of the Paper. 2. It was not found possible as yet to locate information that would connect Glamis Castle with the play 'MacBeth', as well as the secret room in the castle where many skeletons sit at the table at which they were poisoned. 3. The Earls of Airlie must be the Titular heads of the Ogilvie sept. It is likely that the Ogilvies are not a clan although they could be impregnated with Highland blood. More information is needed as to the Earls of Airlie and their Ogilvie connection. 4. Some may have on hand further information which would strengthen this Paper but which has so far not come to the attention of the present two compilers. Please get in touch with Tom and Evelyn if you wish information either deleted or added.
