THE NEWS KIN OFFICERS INSTALLED Harry Kirk, of Fort William, district deputy governor of zone 4 Kinsmen clubs, was in Schrei- ber to install the local Kinsmen and Kinette officers. Mrs. Kirk accompanied her husband and following the din- ner meeting for Kinsmen and Kinettes. went on to a Kinette pmeeting during the evening. The Kinsmen have the follow- ing slate: Peter B. Photo by 1.McCuaig Pallbearers at the funeral of the late Const.John Kenderdine were all Ontario Provincial Policemen, B.D.Gill, W.C.Bowles, N.J.Hurtubise, W.E. Martin (Constables) N.M.Campbell (Cadet), N R.Skinner (Corp.) led by detachment commander Sgt.Bill Baluk. The service was conducted in Oril- lia by Rev.R.J.S.Inshaw of Schreiber. Two repre- sentatives of the Boy Scout movement were present at the service and others who attended were Mrs. May Beamish of Marshall, Sask., R.O .Kenderdine of Waseca, Sask., Mr.& Mrs.R.W.Frayling, Mr. & Mrs.Dennison and Mr.& Mrs.W.Kenderdine of Toronto, Reeve F.V.Harness, Stuart Joens, OPP and Rev.Inshaw of Schreiber . In was in happy recollection of these various pas- tors that memories surged back for the members, mak- ing the occasion memorable for all who attended. Mr.and Mrs.George Riley of Mount Forest, Mrs. Ken Johnson of Port Arthur and Mrs.and Mrs. George Duncan of Fort William and many from Terrace Bay attended the services. Mr.and Mrs.Francis Cates of Emo and Mr.and Mrs. Albert Ferris, with Lesley, Larry and Greg Gerris, of Finland, Ontario are spending the weekend with the various Glad families. _Mr.and Mrs.Eudare Roy of Prince Albert are visit- ing their daughter, Mrs.Walter Guillet and family. Debbie Jolicoeur was given a surprise farewell party in the home of Linda Birch and the afternoon was spent in games, after which Mrs. Birch served lunche. Debbie received gifts from the schoolmates and other friends who attended--Debbie Lidkea, Karen Glad, Alanna Power, Sharon Scott, Linda Lidkea, Geraldine McBride, Debbie Reid, Janet Richardson, Beth Crawley, Terry Lynn Birch and Isley Crawley. Visiting with Mr.and Mrs.Reg Yates are Mr.and Mrs.Wm.Quarrell, Mrs.F.J.Ferguson and John Quar rell of Fort William. Last week Mr.and Mrs.Art Yates and daughter Betty of Brandon were their guests Mr.and Mrs.Lloyd Sparling of Cobden, Ont. and Miss Geraldine Graham, enroute from Toronto to a new position in Fort William, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs.Harold Gellert. Mr.and Mrs.Ken Himes and family are visiting relations in Nova Scotia. The attendance prize at the Catholic Parent-Tea- chers' Association meeting on Oct.2I was won by Mrs .Dominic Figliomeni's room--grade 1. The new staff was introduced by Father J.M.Cano with R.T.Campbell chairing the meeting. Fifty attended and a lengthy discussion was held on safety of the children going to and from school in the area of the intersection at Winnipeg and Columbia Streets. Lunch was served by Mrs.Paul Gauthier's commit- Tee. Roll call at the October meeting of the Women's Institute was answered by boxes of cards to be used by the visiting committee. Mrs.Wesley Miller was in charge of the meeting in the absence of Mrs.Chas. Todesco who is in hospital . A wreath for Remembrance 'day was ordered and will be placed by Mrs.Miller. .A donation was made to the muscular dystrophy fund. Mrs.Nelson Smith read a paper (see column |)
