" The constitution and house rules were reviewed and discussed, Two ehanges were: made in the house rules: (1) All postpened games must be played within 2 weeks of the original date, (11) Last end of game should not be started after 10*thinutes te 9: 00 Doll, or 10 minutes to 11:00 p,m, Last year's method of picking rinks was agreed upon with the stipulation that all skips attend the draw, All dues - tentative $1@,00 - must be paid before the first game is played, It was suggested that ghould an occasion arise where a member requested a returned fee - a written request by the individual must be made to the President of the Men's Club and the Ree- reation Centre Executive. See you at the meeting. o~0-0 INSPECTOR MCKAGUE TELLS KIWANIS OF TEACHER SHORTAGE ac In an appeal to the Kiwanis Club to support the Lakehead Technical Institute Inspector McKague told about the severe secondary school teacher shortage in Northern Ontario, The secondary school enrolment: will: ~ double in the next 15 years and the big problem is going to be in procuring qualified teachers. The chances of getting teachers from Southern Ontarina are very slim and teachers must be recruited in Northern Ontario. At the present time in Northwestern Ontario we are only graduating one student per 1,000 of population and this is not nearly enough to provide for all the pro- fessional needs, The objective is to grad-. uate 3 per year per 1,000 of population in order to have enough trained people, Great encouragement and help is needed by the parents in order to show the students the advantages of a professional life"and™ to keep them from straying into "big money" jobs now which lack the essentials of fute.. ure development and advancement, He also pointed out that the setting up af a Lakehead Technical Institute should enable more students to get a better educa~ tion, Any courses taken at the Institute (Cont. on page 7 )
