- Description
- The Historical Society is particularly indebted to Waitstill ‘Waity’ Croswell, Joyce Crossman, Jack Crossman, Orma Quinn, Lynn Abbot Lennox, the Wellever family. Richard Moore, Norma Hill-Watt and the late John Macfie for the photos and associated descriptions.
- Notes
- In this picture, J.H. Newell’s store on Lot 5 (formerly Robertson’s store) is on the far left of the picture. To the right of the store is a building with an extension behind. This is the Samuel and Sarah Ritter home. In the centre of the picture is ‘Johnston’s barn‘ referenced above. On this side of the barn there would appear to be a sawmill. Beyond the logs in the foreground is the causeway.
The homes in the top right of the picture are somewhat problematic. They would appear to be on lots 10 and 11; and therefore would appear to be a home built by the Clark family and by Art MacDonald which were close together and joined by a walkway.
