Description
The Historical Society is particularly indebted to Waitstill ‘Waity’ Croswell, Joyce Crossman, Jack Crossman, Orma Quinn, Lynn Abbot Lennox, the Wellever family. Richard Moore, Norma Hill-Watt and the late John Macfie for the photos and associated descriptions.
Notes
Lots 6 and 7 on the northwest corner Ahmic and John Streets were transferred from John and Mary Ann (Taylor) Croswell to the William Kennedy family in 1895 for $100. This suggests that the home pictured above had not yet been built and was therefore likely built by or for the Kennedy family after the formal purchase of the land. At the time of this photo in the mid to late 1890’s or early 1900’s the home was occupied by William and Isabella Kennedy and family. (William and Isabella Kennedy do not appear to be related to John and Lily Croswell Kennedy.)

At the time of the photo from the turn of the century, the home on lots 6 and 7 on the northwest corner of Ahmic and John Streets continued to be owned and occupied by the Kennedy family. After several transactions, the home was sold to Richard Andrews in 1908. At the time of the 1911 census, Richard and Florence Andrews were living in the home. The Andrew’s family apparently continued to live in the home for a period of time after 1911 although in that year Victor Neely purchased the home.

The home was purchased by Andrew Wylie from Victor Neely in 1920. The house is best remembered as the home of Harvey and Irene (Demery) Wylie.

The frame home on the right in the picture is the former Neely home.
