Notes
This is a picture of what is remembered as the ‘Stanyer home’ as seen looking from the southwest on Mary Street. Over time, many individuals appear to have owned, although not necessarily occupied this part of lot 12 on the southeast corner of Ahmic and Mary Streets in Ahmic Harbour.

In 1890 Henry Montgomery sold his holding to Annie Arthurs (who together with her husband had built the first general store in Ahmic Harbour on Lot 9 on the northwest corner of Ahmic and George Streets). In 1901 Annie Barbara Arthurs sold to Almerin Truax who subsequently (1902) transferred the property to his wife Elizabeth. Neither the Arthur nor Truax families appear to have occupied either of the above homes on lot 12. At the time of the 1901 census, both the William Snaith and Edward Alexander families are identified as living on Lot 12, both in 6 room homes. The William Snaith family continued to be identified with Lot 12 in the 1911 census. The Snaith and Alexander families would appear to have rented the home (s) from Annie Arthur and Almerin Truax.) At the time of the 1921 census, David and Myrtle Bell and George Davidson and spouse apparently lived in the home.
During the 1930’s, the Wellwood family apparently lived in the large brick home on the corner before moving across the street to the former Dodge Lumber Company headquarters building.
In the 1940’s the property was registered as being transferred to Loron and Alice (Blaney) Stanyer . And indeed, it is as the ‘Stanyer home’ that the brick home is best remembered.
