Description
Black and white portrait photograph of Bob Attersley in his Whitby Dunlops uniform. Attersley played centre on the Whitby Dunlops hockey team.
Notes
Bob Attersley was born at Oshawa on 13 August 1933. A skilled hockey player, he was a member of the Oshawa Generals and the Whitby Dunlops; he won a world championship with the latter in 1958. In 1960, he represented Canada at the winter Olympics and won a silver medal with the Kitchener Waterloo Dutchmen.

In 1958, Attersley moved to Whitby and in 1964 was elected to the Town Council. He served as deputy reeve from 1966-1969 and regional councillor from 1978-1980. He was elected mayor of Whitby in November 1980 and served as chair of the Durham Regional Police Services Board from 1983-1991. He retired from local politics in November 1991.

Bob Attersley died on 12 March 2010.
