- John Sturgess (1832-1903) married Jane Hudson (1839-1926) and they emigrated from England to Canada. They settled at Whitby and had twelve surviving children: William Henry (1857-1936), John (1859-1916), George Edmund (1862-1942), Mary Ellen (1864-1935), Selena, Emma Louise (1869-1949), James Alfred (1872-1935), Thomas (1875-1958), Albert Edwin (1876-1958), Charles, Ethel (1881-1956), Birt Edgar (1881-1953).
