William Jeffery was well known in the area as an accomplished stock breeder, especially for his Leicester sheep. The Jeffrey family later moved to Coldstream Farm on Highway 2.

Akexander Jeffrey married Jane Irving at Whitby in 1871. They had five children: William Irving Jeffrey (1873-1932), Annie May Jeffrey (1874-1956), Hugh Alexander Jeffrey (1876-1961), John Arthur Jeffrey (1877-1922), and Norman Jeffrey (1880-1932).
