- Black and white negative of a photograph of the White family on the occasion of the 50th wedding anniversary of Robert and Elizabeth White. The photograph was taken at the residence of Robert White at the south-west corner of Cochrane Street and Rossland Road.
- Notes
- Robert White (1816-1908) of England married Elizabeth Rowan (1822-1909) of Ireland in 1843. In 1852 they settled at Whitby after living for some time at Toronto.
Robert and Elizabeth had nine children: Joseph (1844-1921), Thomas, Jane (1847-1914), William, Robert, Sarah Ann, Elizabeth, John, James.
Joseph White was appointed Town Clerk and Treasurer in 1896. He achieved the rank of Major in the 34th Battalion and was a veteran of the Fenian Raids. Joseph married Lucy Anne Watson (1846-1887) by whom he had three surviving children. He then married Sarah Newport in 1890. - Date of Original
