- Peter Carmichael and his wife came to Canada in 1850 and settled in Myrtle with their two children, John (1834-1908) and Flora (1845-1929). The purchased land on lot 21 of Concession 9.
John Carmichael married Mary Hodges ( -1919) in 1862 at Whitby Township and they had three children: Peter Edwin (1864-1944), Emma Jane (1870-1953), and John Alfred (1872-1939). John Alfred went on to marry Christina Henderson Ross (1872-1940)in 1914. The couple had no children.
Flora Carmichael married Charles C. Pearce near Whitby in 1865 and the couple had six children.
