- Black and white negative of a photograph of a crane which was used for the wreckage of a train on the Canadian Pacific Railway in Whitby. The crane would have been used to remove and/or straighten the cars that had fallen off the rails.

- On 2 November 1916, a train loaded with mules bound for Montreal was derailed at the junction of the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Port Whitby and Port Perry Railway as a result of an error made by the switchman.
