The following is the caption that appeared with the picture in the Bracebridge Herald-Gazette on June 10, 1971:
"Historic Home: In last week's issue reference was made int he obituary of Mrs. W. Lyle Cowan, to her late residence at the north-west corner of Dominion and Quebec Streets, as one of the oldest homes in Bracebridge. The home had been in the Perry family, of which Mrs. Cowan was a member wince the earliest years of Bracebridge. The above picture would seem to have been taken about 80 years ago, and the house looks somewhat different than in its present form. The original part, at the west side (left in this picture), is of log construction, the logs covered with siding. At a later time the larger addition was made, at the right of the picture, and still later this was enlarged and built toward Quebec Street, the newer part of the house being bricked, as it appears today. The iron fence, appearing int he picture, is still in place and in good repair. When the picture was taken the town sidewalk was of wood. The children in the picture were members of the Perry family, except of the little boy on the bicycle, who we understand was a lad from across the street, the late George Armstrong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H. Armstrong. Mrs. R.P. Perry is seated at the right of the group. The Herald-Gazette is indebted to the members of Mrs. Cowan's family for the privilege of reproducing the above picture.
