- A black and white portrait photograph of Sylvester Earl Briggs (1846-1926).
- Notes
- Sylvester Earl Briggs was born in Whitby Township, east of Myrtle, on April 10, 1846. He moved to Toronto in 1873 and joined Steele Brothers firm with R.C. Steele. R.C. Steele and S.E. Briggs were coworkers in Oshawa prior to joining the firm. In 1900, the company became the Steele Briggs Seed Company and by 1910, Sylvester was the President. As well, he was an honourary director and life member of the Canadian National Exhibition Association and served on the Board of Directors for 17 years. He died at Toronto on June 17, 1926 and is buried in the Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Toronto.
