- A black and white portrait photograph of Gerald Bracey (1929-2001).
- Notes
- Gerald Bracey was born at Oshawa on August 26, 1929, and he moved to Whitby in 1936. He attended the Whitby High School where he was a champion athlete, specializing in running. He won the Langevin Cup for the quarter mile race three times, 1945-1947. He competed in local, provincial and national track and field competitions until 1949 when a broken achillies tendon ended his racing career. He was inducted into Whitby's Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Gerry married in 1953 and left Whitby for Toronto, where he had a 45 year career in the food and drug business. He retired as Executive Vice President of Sun Pac Foods after 17 years with the company. In 1964 he obtained a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Toronto. Gerald Bracey died at Oakville on September 21, 2001.
