- A black and white portrait photograph of Michael O'Donovan (1834-1918). This picture is from a frame of portraits of members of Composite Lodge No. 30, AF & AM.
- Notes
- Michael O'Donovan was born at St. Catharine's Port Neuf Country, Quebec, on December 10, 1834 and came to Whitby in 1857. For 31 years he operated a carriage factory on Brock Street South, retiring in 1888. From 1870 to 1872 he was Deputy Reeve of Whitby and Reeve from 1873 to 1875. Mr. O'Donovan commanded a company of Whitby Militia at the Fenian Raids in 1866 and from 1880 to 1892 was Commanding Officer of the 34th Regiment. He also served on the Whitby Board of Education. Lt. Col. O'Donovan died at Whitby on August 24, 1918 and is buried in St. John's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Whitby.
