- Benjamin Worfolk was born in Yorkshire, England, on August 31, 1822, and came to Whitby in 1856. He engaged in the sailing trade on Lake Ontario and was an engine driver when Chester Draper was harbour master in the 1860 and 1870s. As a contractor he helped to build the piers at the harbour in the 1870s, and moved a number of buildings in Whitby. He was also a County Constable. He died at Whitby on March 17, 1912, and is buried in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Port Whitby.
