- Notes
- Marcus James (Mark) Holliday was born in Whitby Township in September 1854, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Holliday. He grew up on a farm a mile south of Brooklin and attended Prospect School. After his father died in 1874, he conducted a butcher business in Oshawa for a number of years. He farmed in East Whitby and Whitby Townships, and had the Glen Dhu farm on the third concession of Whitby Township for a number of years. He was a member of the Whitby Township Council from 1907 to 1909. Mark Holliday died at Lot 1, Range Line, Pickering Township, at his son's farm, on November 7, 1927, and is buried in Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin.
