- A black and white portrait photograph of Charles William Smith (1833-1922).
- Notes
- Charles William Smith, son of William Smith and Hannah Norgrove, was born on Lot 21, Broken Front Concession, Whitby Township, on November 10, 1833. About 1859 he moved to the 7th concession of Darlington Township where he farmed. He retired from farming in 1913 and returned to Whitby where he lived in a house on Byron Street North. For 21 years he was a member of the County Council of Durham and Northumberland. He was Reeve of Darlington Township for a number of years and also served on the township school board. He died at his home in Whitby on October 21, 1922 and is buried at Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin.
