- A black and white portrait photograph of Thomas Manderson, 1837-1921. Mr. Manderson is pictured seated outside, holding a walking stick in his right hand, wearing a beret. There are farm buildings in the background.
- Notes
- Thomas Manderson was born in Scotland in 1837 and came to Canada in 1848, when his family settled in King Township, York County. In 1864 the Manderson family moved to Lot 11, Concession 1, Reach Township, where Thomas Manderson was a farmer the rest of his life. He took over the farm in 1868 when his father died. Mr. Manderson was a director of the South Ontario Agricultural Society, and served for a few years as its president. He made a specialty of growing wheat and won many prizes in world competitions in the United States and Europe. He died at Lot 11, Concession 1, Reach Township, on February 13, 1921. Mr. Manderson is buried at Burns' Presbyterian Cemetery, Ashburn.
