- A black and white portrait photograph of James Milton Kenny (1867-1958). This photo was printed in the Whitby United Church Centennial book.
- Notes
- James Milton Kenny was born at Aylmer, Canada East, on April 9, 1867. He lived on a farm near Guelph until 1899 when he went to northern Manitoba to homestead. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway when it was being built through Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and later managed and inspected railway boarding camps in British Columbia. In 1913 he managed a summer resort at Atherley and then moved to Whitby. He was a member of the Whitby Town Council from 1920-1924, 1926-1927 and 1932 and then served as Reeve in 1929. While in Whitby, he was Sunday School Superintendent of the Whitby United Church. He moved to Beeton in the early 1930s and served on the school board. He spent the last four years of his life at Newmarket, where he died on February 20, 1958. he is buried at Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin.
