- A black and white photograph of Sylvester Lynde and Francis Phillis, his second wife.
- Notes
- Sylvester Lynde was born in the State of New York in 1800 and settled with his father Jabez Lynde at Lynde Creek and Highway 2 in Whitby in 1804 or 1805. During the War of 1812 he helped his father carry dispatches. In the 1820s he moved to Maple Dell Farm on the 3rd Concession of Whitby Township. He married Francis Phillips, his second wife, in 1843. Sylvester Lynde died at his home on March 19, 1883 and is buried in Union Cemetery, Oshawa. Francis Phillips died at Tara, Bruce County, Ontario, on December 21, 1895 and was buried at Tara.
