- A black and white portrait photograph of Van Buren Woodruff,1860-1935.
- Notes
- Van Buren Woodruff was born on March 15, 1860 and was a hotel keeper in Oshawa and Whitby. In 1889 he purchased the Armstrong House Hotel at the south-west corner of Brock and Dundas Streets in Whitby, and moved to Oshawa in 1898 to take over the Commercial Hotel. In 1901 he returned to Whitby to run the New Armstrong House in Deverell Block, 102-116 Brock Street South, but returned to the commercial Hotel in Oshawa before 1905. Mr. Woodruff died at Oshawa on December 3, 1935 and is buried in Oshawa Union Cemetery.
