- A black and white portrait photograph of Mr. George (1856-1938) and Mrs. Mary (1855-1936) Mowat. Mr. Mowat is pictured seated and Mrs. Mowat is standing to his right.

- This picture was taken at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George Mowat, 209 Gilbert Street East, on their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mary (Cruikshank) Mowat was born at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1855. She died at Whitby on December 30, 1936 and is buried in Mount Lawn Cemetery, Whitby.
George Mowat was born at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, July 30, 1856 and was married in Glasgow on January 1, 1877. He came to Canada and settled in Toronto. He and his family came to Whitby about 1887 when he worked at the new Buckle Factory. George Mowat died at Toronto on August 21, 1938 and is buried at Mount Lawn Cemetery, Whitby. - Date of Original
