- A black and white portrait photograph of Mr. James Henry (1889-1957) and Mrs. Jean Elizabeth (1888-1968) Ormiston.
- Notes
- James Henry Ormiston was born at Edinburgh, Scotland on March 19, 1889. He worked for Whitby Gazette and Chronicle as a printer in 1908-09 and as a writer from 1925 until the Second World War. He was Whitby editor of the Daily Times-Gazette (Oshawa) from 1943 to 1954. He was a member of the Whitby Town Council, Chairman of the Public Library Board and founding secretary of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce. He died at Oshawa on April 2, 1957, and is buried in Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin.
His wife, Jean Elizabeth Miller, whom he married in September 1918, was born in Hastings County, Ontario, and died at Picton, Ontario on February 22, 1968. Mr. and Mrs. Ormiston are buried at Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin. - Date of Original
