- Reverend Albert James Goldring was born at Port Whitby on September 19, 1900, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Goldring. He graduated from a combined Theology and Arts Course at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto and graduated with his Licentiate of Theology in 1925. On April 26, 1925 he was ordained a Deacon and subsequently raised to the priesthood. While a student he served at mission stations at Cromer, Manitoba, and after ordination, did missionary work at Fort Chippewa on Lake Athabasca. He later was assistant curate at St. Aldan's Church, Toronto until 1928. In 1928 he was assistant minister at Lindsay, serving at St. Paul's Anglican Church. On the retirement of Canon C. H. Marsh in 1935, Reverend Goldring became the sole rector of St. Paul's. In 1942 he left Lindsay to become a Chaplain serving during the Second World War at London, Ontario. He later served as Chaplain at Toronto East General, St. Michael's and Scarborough General Hospitals and was made a Canon in the Anglican Church. He died at Toronto on January 20 ,1979 and is buried at St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Port Whitby.
