Description: A black and white portrait photograph of James Herrie Gerrie.
Notes: James Herrie Gerrie was born at Old Deer, Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1822. He had managed a drug and stationery business in Stuartville, Scotland before coming to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1843. He settled at Whitby, Ontario in 1845. He was the proprietor of a drugstore in Whitby. He was a councilor for the North Ward in 1867-1868 and Mayor of Whitby from 1869-1871. He died at Whitby on May 27, 1872 and is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
