A black and white print of Jeremiah Long.
Notes
Jeremiah Long was born in Pickering Township on september 6, 1839. For fifteen years he managed a large farm. In 1872 he began buying grain from Chester Draper and after Mr. Draper's death in 1876 Jeremiah Long succeeded him in the grain and produce business. Mr. Long was Deputy Reeve of Whitby from 1881-1883, Reeve from 1884-1885, Mayor from 1886-1888 and in 1893. Mr. Long died at Whitby on October 29, 1903 of burns suffered in a fire at his home on October 27 and is buried at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Cemetery, Pickering.
