- Notes
- The Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association was first organized in Canada in 1876 as a fraternal association for native born Scottish persons and their descendants in Canada. It aimed to provide mutual benefits and family protection for its members, and to preserve and promote Scottish culture and heritage. The association was (and still is) organized into groups known as "camps". During the 1890's, Whitby had a branch of the Sons of Scotland known as the Roderick Dhu Camp.
