This photograph is on the back of the twenty-seventh leaf of Alex Brown's album. This leaf has 4 pockets for photos on each side. In the top left pocket is a photo of George Brown. The top right photo is of a newspaper article with headline "Will get medal for efficiency" about George Brown. The bottom left photo is of Bud Bragg, Jake Bryant and Ron Bragg. The bottom right photo is of Doug Outwin and Bob Finley. - Notes
- Alex Brown is a local Whitby area veteran. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
George Lawrence Brown was born at Seagrave, Ontario on July 8, 1896. He served for four years as a corporal in the 116th Battalion during the First World War and he served as Squadron Quartermaster Seargeant at Camp Borden during the Second World War. He was awarded the Efficiency Medal in 1944 and spent 30 years in the Ontario Regiment Reserve. He was employed by Whitby Public Utility Commission from 1922 to 1962 and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Whitby. He died at Whitby on August 3, 1963 and is buried at St. John Roman Catholic Cemetery, Whitby. George Brown is the father of Alex Brown (the owner of this photographic album). - Inscriptions

Squadron QMS. George L. Brown To Be Honored
Squadron Quartermaster-Sergeant George L. Brown will be awarded the efficiency medal given by the Department of National Defense. A well-known employee of the Whitby Public Utility Commission, George enlisted in September 1939, and after taking his basic training in Oshawa was appointed the quartermaster of the Terminal and School wing at Camp Borden. He served four years in the last war and was a member of the 11th Reserve Tank Battalion for 30 years in Oshawa.
Mr. Brown was born at Seagrave July 8, 1996 and attended King Street School, Whitby, and St. John's Roman Catholic Church. He is the son of the late R. Brown and Mrs. Elizabeth Brown, Byron Street South, Whitby. His wife and daughter Betty now reside on Byron Street South. He has one son, Trooper Alex Brown, overseas. - Date of Original
