- A black and white photograph of James Palmer. This photograph was on the front of the third leaf of Alex Brown's album and located in the bottom left pocket. This leaf had 4 pockets for photos on each side. In the top left pocket was a photo of Nat Neill. The top right photo was of William Wilkinson. At bottom left is Pte. James Palmer and bottom right Lafayette Johnston.

- Alex Brown is a local Whitby area veteran. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Private James Henry Palmer was born in Darlington Township on August 21, 1893 and moved to Whitby in 1908. He was blinded during service in the First World War.
He was married in England in 1919 and returned to Whitby after the war. He was a member of Whitby Branch 112 of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Sir Arthur Pearson Association for Blind Veterans and the Amputation Association of the First and Second World Wars. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows Lodge in Whitby. He died at Whitby on July 12, 1961 and is buried in Mount Lawn Cemetery Whitby. - Date of Original
