- A black and white portrait photograph of George Phillips.
- Notes
- George Roberts Phillips was born in Prince Edward county, Ontario on November 7, 1916, son of Urban L. and Clara M. Phillips. Husband of Mae Phillips, of Ewshott, Hampshire, England. He grew up in Whitby and was employed at General Motors in Oshawa. He was also a member of the championship Whitby Intermediate Hockey team in the 1930s. He enlisted in the spring of 1940. He reached the rank of Sergeant Major in the Fourth Canadian Field Regiment, Second Field Battery in the Royal Canadian Artillery. He was killed in action in Belgium on October 6, 1944.
According to the Canadian Virtual War Memorial site he is commemorated on Page 417 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance. He is interred at SCHOONSELHOF CEMETERY, Belgium. - Inscriptions
