- A black and white portrait photograph of William J. Foster. This photograph was taken at Dundas Street West. The building in the background is 106 Dundas Street West. It was likely Diana Sweets' restaurant.
- Notes
- William Joseph Foster was born at Stratford, Ontario on February 26, 1925. He was the son of Joseph A. and Jessie A. Foster, of Whitby, Ontario. He came to Whitby in 1928. In 1943 he enlisted with the army as part of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He went overseas in May 1944 and died on February 21, 1945.
According to the Canadian Virtual War Memorial site, W.J. Foster is commemorated on page 515 of the
Second World War Book of Remembrance. He was interred at GROESBEEK CANADIAN WAR CEMETERY, Netherlands.
