- A black and white photograph of James McBrien in uniform for the 34th Regiment. This photograph was taken in the school yard at the Whitby Collegiate Institute. In the background is the Baptist Church at the north west corner of Centre and Colborne Streets.
- Notes
- The 34th Regiment was militia for Ontario County. They were known as the 34th Regiment from 1866 until 1920. After such time they became known as Ontario Regiment (RCAC). This group is sometimes also referred to as the 34th (Ontario) Battalion.
James McBrien was from Prince Albert. Hew was Ontario County Public School Inspector in the 1880s and 1890s. He also taught a girls' calisthenics class at the Whitby Collegiate Institute. - Date of Original
