- This is a black and white portrait of William John Greenwood (1857-1945).
- Notes
- William John Greenwood was born at Fullerton Township, Canada West, on September 8. 1857. He studied classics at Victoria College, Toronto and was awarded the Prince of Wales Medal on graduation.
Mr. Greenwood was Master of Classics at the Whitby Collegiate Institute from 1886 to 1892.
In 1892 he joined the staff of the Ontario Ladies' College as a teacher of Classics and Higher Mathematics.
He retired in 1915 from the Ontario Ladies' College and spent the last 30 years of his life at Mitchell, Ontario, where he was involved in Church work. He was recording steward for Whitby Methodist Tabernacle church.
Mr. Greenwood died at Toronto on December 7, 1945 and is buried at Woodland Cemetery, Mitchell, Ontario.
