To the surprise of even the promoters of the schemes, on Saturday last (Aug. 27) the whole town awoke in the morning with its mind made up to swallow the whole three bonus by – laws. There had been such things as factions before, but it had become evident that if each of these factions pushed its own pet scheme, all would collapse, so hands were joined and a general push made with the result that a large and almost unanimous vote was given, and no discrimination allowed. The following are the figures of the vote:
