Lord Greenwood, Whitby’s distinguished native son, never forgets his home town or his old associations with town and county organizations.

At the annual dinner of the Ontario Regiment held in Oshawa on Friday night (Feb. 10) it was announced by Lieut. – Col. R. B. Smith that Lord Greenwood, better known to his Whitby and district friends as Sir Hamar, had donated a handsome painting of His Majesty King George the Fifth, in recognition of his-former association with the regiment which in his day was known as the 34th Ontario County Regiment.

This magnificent gift is deeply appreciated by the Regiment and it will serve to remind officers and men of today and the future of the distinguished career and generosity of the donor, as well as inspiring loyalty to the Sovereign.
