The ladies of this county have taken to hand the collection of a fund for the purchase of a “Stand of Colors” for the Battalion. The handsome sum of $90 has already been collected in Oshawa, and a committee of ladies here have also been active in a like direction in this town, as well as in other localities. It is proposed, unless the Battalion he called out in the interim that the Regiment be assembled either at Whitby or Oshawa, on Dominion Day, and the colors should be presented in the name of the ladies on that occasion. A monster concert in the Drill Shed in the evening is also spoken of.
