Dennis was known all over Canada. From the hallowed halls of R.S. McLaughlin CVI to the assembly line in Scarborough and Oshawa's GM plant. Dennis was an active outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt with his late father Dennis Sr. and all of the Cavan Crew and buds who would stop by for beers and a social visit in his workshop. He was and will be remembered by his actions in the military reserves, as a chief scout - awarded by Lincoln Alexander, and as a Ukrainian Dancer. Dennis was known for his strong will and Kodiak boots. He was always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. The tough Dennis also had a soft spot in his heart for his family! His wife Jackie Robertson (nee Shewchuk) is a saint for putting up with his jokes, his loud voice and the love he shared and showed to and with her. Dennis is survived by his wife Jackie Robertson of Cavan Ontario. His mother Carol Ann Shewchuk of Oshawa, who he would speak and call daily to discuss the trials of society and how people are dumb and stupid jerks, but he always ended their conversations with I love you mom! Dennis was a protective brother to Terry Matthew Shewchuk, and his children Elizabeth and Matthew. He would text them regularly to say, "Hey, how's it going? How's school?" And reminded them to stay safe, and continue to thrive. Dennis leaves behind many family and friends who loved him with all of their hearts. Jackie (wife), Carol (mom), Terry (brother), Elizabeth, Matthew, Linda and Kavin (brother and sister-in-law), Mike and Diane Ovenden (brother and sister-in-law), Sharon (sister-in-law), Dan (brother-in-law) Kim Degeer (step daughter), and Casey Walker (daughter), he is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins from Ontario to British Columbia. A loving person, so gentle and kind; what a wonderful memory you left behind. Long days, long nights, you bore your pain. To wait for a cure, but all in vain. Till God Himself knew what was best. He took you home and gave you rest. Always so good, unselfish and kind, none on this earth your equal I'll find. Honourable and true in all your ways, loving and faithful to the end of your days, honest and liberal, ever upright, just in your judgment, always right. And have you gone, forever gone and left us here to weep. Till we are called to follow you, and in the grave to sleep; yet since you could no longer stay to cheer us with your love, we hope to meet with you again in the bright world above. 1-800-263-6480 classifieds@metroland.comCLASSIFIEDS OBITUARIES | ANNOUNCEMENTS | JOBS | MARKETPLACE
