23 | durhamregion.com | This Week | Thursday, November 3, 2022 | Notice of Public Information Centre The Regional Municipality of Durham has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) for the reconstruction and widening of Stevenson Road (Regional Road 53) from 300 metres south of Gibb Street (Regional Road 59) to Rossland Road (Regional Road 28), in the City of Oshawa (see map). The widening of Stevenson Road is identified in the Durham Transportation Master Plan 2017 (TMP) as the preferred solution to address operational deficiencies, road safety and increasing traffic volumes. Phase 1 (Identify the Problem or Opportunity) and Phase 2 (Identify Alternative Solutions and Establish the Preferred Solution) of the MCEA planning process were satisfied through the TMP. The TMP is currently available at durhamTMP. wordpress.com. This study is proceeding in accordance with Phase 3 (Examine Alternative Methods of Implementing the Preferred Solution) and Phase 4 (Prepare an Environmental Study Report) of the Schedule 'C' MCEA planning process. A Notice of Study Commencement was published on May 5, 2022. Since then, alternative design concepts have been developed and evaluated for the reconstruction and widening of Stevenson Road including intersection modifications. Public Information Centre A key component of the study is consultation with interested stakeholders and the public, and we want to hear from you. A Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held to present the study process, existing conditions and next steps in the study. You will also be able to review and provide feedback on the evaluation of alternative design concepts and the preliminary recommended design. The PIC will be held: Date: November 24, 2022 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm Location: Glen Stewart Community Centre 201 Cabot Street, Oshawa Starting November 25, the material presented at the PIC will be posted at durham.ca/StevensonRoadEA.
